Interesting Thoughts on the Environment
In an article in Reason.Org in July of 2006 Shikha Dalmia discusses how much more energy is consumed in the life of the Prius, than in the life of the average SUV, or more specifically the beyond average villain the Hummer. Read her article here . It might be vindicating to those of us who drive useful vehicles like my Jeep Cherokee, if we required vindication, which we don't. An interesting thought to explore in light of this cost analysis is the recent attacks on the scientists who propose evidence against man made global warming. They attack the scientists based on who funds them and more specifically who stands to gain from their conclusions. I wonder how many billions of dollars stand to be made by major corporations on the production of vehicles that don't actually save energy in the long run. And I wonder what kind of support those corporations might be funneling into 'scientific' research. Like it or not all science has funding and all funding comes from the production and distribution of goods and services.
